John Tate is the Parole Board commissioner, and though he’s made some progress in releasing people, he has yet to go far enough. He could make much more substantial decarceration moves, but continues not to. Despite Mr Tate having reduced the requirements for old law prisoners who qualify for a parole hearing, deferrals and denials continue. So far, since he’s taken over, they’ve release about 10% of the old law prisoners in Wisconsin. With only 1 person being re-incarcerated, due to something unrelated to their initial arrest, it’s unjustifiable to continue holding people in cages.
